About

Welcome to SNC Kid Books! This site showcases work that was created by sophomore education students at St. Norbert College who were enrolled in both the Children’s Literature and Instructional Technology courses. During these courses, students were introduced to multimedia authoring software along with elements of children’s literature and were asked to create their own children’s story that were brought to life through the use of animations, audio recordings, and special effects. Many of them took the form of a choose-your-own-adventure story which also introduced the students to a creative writing process where the success of the story depended on the contributions of everyone in the class.

Enjoy browsing the collection of stories and feel free to leave comments for the student authors! We’ve also included on this site, resources for replicating this process in your own classroom.

I’d like to offer a special thanks to St. Norbert College alumna, Chelsea Faase, ’08, for sharing the teaching resources she created for using this process with her sixth grade students. Additional thanks goes to Vickie Watkins, ’21, for compiling this site during her Research Fellowship while attending St. Norbert College. It is through her work that these stories are openly available for everyone to enjoy.

Thanks for viewing!

Being able to work on this project and create this domain has been an amazing experience! I have been able to learn so many new technological skills during my time as a research fellow. One of the highlights of creating this domain was being able to see all of my work come together. I could not have completed this project without the support I received from those who guided me and gave me feedback. Hopefully you are able to utilize the information stored here and can re-create the choose-your-own-adventure story project in your classroom!

Thank you,

Vickie Watkins ’20
