You and Lily quickly decide to open the door and run inside. The room was full of people! There were balloons, food, and tons of things for a party! All of the teachers look over at you and Lily as you both stand frozen in the doorway. Mrs. Strawberry, another 4th grade teacher tells you to come inside. She explains to you and Lily that the reason for the power outage was to keep the children at school so the teachers could plan a surprise party for them. They had called all of the parents and told them what was going on. You look at Lily and start to laugh. In a way you are disappointed that you discovered the surprise, but you feel much better knowing that you won't be stuck in the school overnight. Mrs. Strawberry sends you both back to class as long as you promise not to tell anyone about the surprise. After you get back, Mrs. Applebee is getting the students ready to head over to a different room. When your class gets there, everyone in the room yells "Surprise!" and they explain everything that happened. What a crazy day. As you and Lily head home after school you cannot help but wonder what your day would have been like if you hadn't gotten to take the note to the office. Good thing you did!
